Abstract
In 1999, a commitment was made to making technology an integral part of the Murray State University teacher preparation program. A systemic effort to restructure the College of Education programs was supported by College of Education resources and grants. The College of Education support unit (KATE) working with the faculty and administrative leadership team has facilitated development of a long-range plan, acquisition of technology tools, and comprehensive training and support to both faculty and P-12 partner teachers and students. Characteristics of the program, how faculty teach pre-service teachers to use technology, examples of ways students use technology as well as the framework that guides the infusion of technology into MSUCOE teacher preparation programs will be reviewed. As a result, the International Society for Technology in Education awarded one of its Distinguished Achievement Awards for 2003 to the Murray State University College of Education.
