Abstract

The Internet has become a ubiquitous environment for students, researchers, and educators to share resources, exchange information, distribute reports, and collect data since the creation of the World Wide Web (WWW). Most of the software programs currently in use on the Internet, however, are either stationary or reactive, meaning that during the execution of a task the code stays in a given host until the task is completed. In this paper, we propose using aglets, a specific type of Java-based mobile agents, to enhance distance learning and administration. Several specific aglets for educational use will be addressed. These aglets offer certain capabilities that are not readily available with stationary agents
