Abstract
This paper is dedicated to virtual storytelling technology and its educational applications. It describes an implementation of our idea to develop a virtual storytelling system and realize a wide space education project “Virtual Lessons from Space”. At our virtual space lessons a stereoscopic projection system provides an immersion in a model of the International Space Station, while a virtual cosmonaut explains fundamental physical laws, makes experiments and answers students’ questions. A plot of a virtual story depends on user’s actions. The technology enables teachers to personalize and enliven an educational process, to transfer a lesson into a virtual world and make demonstrations and experiments that are either unrealizable on earth or too difficult and expensive.
