Abstract

Abstract. This paper discusses the case of an on-line simulation conducted at the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague. It looks at some of the lessons learned in the thorny context of Rwanda from students’ comments. It does this by comparing the logic of learning inside the simulation with extracts from Through the Looking Glass. The paper concludes that there are some important things to consider in a sensitive context like the Rwandan one; debriefing matters, and frustration and lack of clarity can be good learning devices.
