Abstract

This panel session focuses on different aspects of present day learners and the learning process. Emphasis is given to the learning process and the learner characteristics in technology enhance learning environment. Main consideration is placed on two learner characteristics cognition and culture. Authors elaborate on cognitive aspects, cultural characteristics, diversity issues which should be considered while implementing technologies for learning. The relationship and interplay of learner, technology, culture and cognition which defines the learning in 21st century are discussed. Session presentations are consist of studies on the need for institutional changes required for embracing the emerging technologies in learning and teaching, complexity of learning process and diversity of learners, learning environment, tools and technologies and assessment of complex 21st century skills.
