Abstract
The American School Counselor Association's (ASCA) National Model provides a professional framework and standards to help guide practicing school counselors. In preparation for working with this model, counselor candidates provide evidence of their competence using a digital portfolio. To assure that candidates have a wide range of professional experiences, each is required to provide artifacts that relate to aspects of the ASCA framework for school counseling programs. Through the portfolio development process a bridge has been established that allows counselor educators to examine specific candidate practice and relate it to national standards and subsequent 7-12 student performance indicators.
