Abstract
Handheld and portable computing devices have evolved into powerful and affordable learning tools which can access the Internet, download curriculum, send email, and perform many of the same functions as a desktop or laptop computer. This paper presents research concering the implementation of PDAs in a Science Methods course and Instructional Technology course in a Teacher Education Program in a Midwestern university. Preservice teachers in K-12 classrooms modeled the use of this emerging technology and examined pedagogical themes to determine if the PDA is "value added" to the curriculum due to its portability and versatility.
