Abstract

This presentation describes the use of word processing and multimedia software found on most computers such as Word, PowerPoint, and PhotoJam to create eBooks, recording the stories of young children. In preK classrooms where the young children have access to computers on a daily basis and the teachers have had extensive training in the integration of technology into the curriculum, creating and recording stories using technology is a natural next step. The process for creating eBooks, recording stories and examples of stories created using Word, PowerPoint and PhotoJam will be discussed. A comparison of the preferences of young children regarding the stories they create using technology or the stories they create using the traditional format of dictating text and drawing illustration will also be shared.
