Abstract
This presentation will discuss a project currently under development at New York University to integrate recent research findings in multimedia learning (Mayer, 2003) and computer assisted language learning (CALL) (Chapelle, 2001) into a multimedia environment for second language (L2) reading comprehension delivered over the Internet. The presentation will describe a model for researchers and language instructors to work together on further developing learning materials that have previously shown significant learning gains in experimental and classroom research to help us expand the theoretical basis of multimedia learning as well as to better understand how L2 learners interact with multimedia materials in an online environment.
