Abstract

This paper examines the famous media-method debate more comprehensively. The debate is re-examined according to three main aspects of the instructional technology field: theoretical, methodological and technological. Focusing on the changes occurred overtime since the debate was first started in 1983, it is seen that although there are still some criticisms towards all aspects, there are also healthy signs indicating much endeavors to solve dilemmas in the field. Basing on the review of improvements on each aspect of the field and the contributions of such debates, the authors suggest that there should be debates, but should be leading to investigate "how" questions.
