Abstract

This paper presents the reviews of students who took part in a dedicated notebook computer initiative amongst three middle schools in the province of New Brunswick, Canada in 2005-2006. The goal of the research project was to consider how providing middle school students and teachers with their own individual laptop computers in a wireless networked environment would affect the learning experiences and instructional approaches in their classrooms. The results of the research project indicates that a large majority of the students involved in the initiative successfully implemented the laptop project in their classrooms and there is a wide body of survey and interview data that suggest that student learning and improved teaching practice has been a result of the new laptop technology.
