Abstract
This paper presents research results of a new concept of making e-learning more efficient by shifting from the traditional textbook paradigm to a new structure of the learning content by integrating the digital content and the process management data into joint information flow. The learning content designed this way becomes “active” compared to the content created by the conventional methods widely used today. It fulfils two roles simultaneously: conveys the knowledge to be transferred during the learning process and helps the self-directed learners to better manage the process and its outcomes. The major advantage of the proposed innovative concept is that the well performing self-directed learners get the required outcomes (knowledge) with no waste of time (improved efficiency). The presented concept is the core of a project proposal submitted to the EC Lifelong Learning Programme in 2011.
