Abstract
Many malnourished children are dying unnecessarily either because their condition is overlooked or because their treatment is inappropriate. If treatment is inappropriate, it can lead to 1 in 2 deaths in severely malnourished children. Appropriate and vigilant treatment, on the other hand, can lead to rapid recovery and very low mortality (5%). There are much need and demand for accessible malnutrition education for existing and future health care practitioners, with many medical schools in the UK as well as other countries not having the capacity to deliver malnutrition education as part of their curriculum. This project aims to provide an interactive eLearning course with which the health care practitioners, in particular pediatricians, can gain the competency to assess malnutrition and give appropriate management for severe malnutrition.
