Abstract
This study examines technologies students use, and the reasons they choose to use them while forming groups during online problem-based learning. Twenty-five students participated in the study. The data were collected from the students’ online written interactions through discussion board postings, chats, blogs, and wikis and from the students’ responses on two survey questionnaires. The findings indicate that the easy access of the technologies and the match between tasks at hand and technology properties are two major reasons students have in choosing technologies to use to form groups in online PBL process.
