Abstract

This presentation will review the research-based best practices in preparing K-12 school leaders in the well-versed use of appropriate educational technology necessary for their challenging roles. In particular, this presentation will provide an overview of practices in technology and professional development that allow emerging school leaders to demonstrate in theory and in school settings their practices of leadership aligned with the standards of the Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium (ISLLC). While many K-12 educators have been utilizing appropriate educational technology for their professional needs, once classroom teachers move into administrative positions, they often find that their need for and use of educational technology changes dramatically. This presentation will also review this common phenomenon and ways in which graduate educational leadership preparation programs can prepare leaders for this new role by utilizing appropriate technology tools.
