As the demand for online learning increases in K-12 and higher education, the need for high-quality online science laboratories is also increasing. E-laboratories that provide opportunities for students to apprentice with 21st-Century technologies can help fulfill this need. This presentation introduces undergraduate and high school e-labs now available to faculty and institutions via short-term subscriptions. Profiled in the presentation will be several e-labs that immerse students in authentic science explorations using real data provided by leading researchers, including “Your Brain Without Sleep: Analyzing How Sleep Deprivation Impacts Brain Function;” “Teen Brains on Drugs and Alcohol: Using fMRI to Assess Cognitive Damage and Predict Future Substance Use;” “New Neurons for You: Verifying and Investigating Adult Neurogenesis with Imaging;” “Stomates Revealed: Investigating How Guard Cells Maintain Homeostasis;” and “Mapping the Yeast Mitotic Spindle: Reconstructing and Analyzing the Movement of Spindles and Centromeres During Mitosis.”
