E-learning systems, as a supplement or substitution of the traditional learning environment, enable learners to access sufficient learning information in different systems. However, it is an important and problematic issue in E-Learning to achieve the exchangeability and interoperability of information. Fortunately, Architecture and interface standardization provides effective means to achieve the interoperability between heterogeneous learning systems. By investigating several existing interface specifications, we propose a set of interface description design principles. According to the principles, the interface standard is developed and integrated into the standardized E-learning system architecture. The architecture and interface standard are proposed as part of China E-Learning Technology Standards and implemented in actual E-learning systems.
