What constitutes relevant media and technology design & use for pre-service English teachers? Presenters detail the experience of designing & using a tool to support individual/collaborative learning, examining what happened in the process. The purpose: to foster critical examination of technology use in pre-service education. The goal: teachers becoming critical users of technology AND repositioning themselves as not just consumers but also, more importantly, creators of/with technology. Presenters will cover the problems they set out to solve, their critical process, the range of instructional problems & student products emerging from that process, those things that blocked their vision, and the questions that challenged them. They will invite audience dialogue to explore the question: What kind of world does our practice – and that of our students – serve, what are the implications of our collective experience, & how can we work together to transform exhaustion into exhilaration?
