During the first year of the PT3 Project at the University of Puerto Rico, a group of professors from the College of Education created a model for the electronic portfolio which student teachers began developing the following year. The participants in the e-portafolio project believe that, as a faculty, they are responsible for providing the learning experiences that allow students to be involved in critical thinking and reflexive and constructive learning. The e-portfolio, adequately designed, may become instrumental to achieve this goal. The paper presents the conceptual background, the goals and the guiding principles of the e-portfolio.
