The paper presents a prototype that manages the reading paths in a set of multimedia documents. It allows to create the path while the user navigates not only on Web pages, but also on local documents or documents non necessarily on the Web. The system stores the references of the information fragments, allowing the user to save the created path, to review it, to replay the sequence and finally to distribute the path to students, thus avoiding (or limiting) the disorientation phenomenon. The prototype also supplies some simple but powerful methods for manipulating the paths and creating new ones. These primitives consist of a series of basic operations on paths, like the concatenation of two paths, the intersection of a series of paths in order to find common nodes, the difference of two paths and so on.
