Basic Searching
- Keywords
- By default, the digital library only returns pages that include all of your search terms. You do not need to use the word "and" between search terms. To restrict searches, add more search terms.
classroom web
Returns all articles which contain both "classroom" and "web"classroom web instruction
Returns all articles which contain the words "classroom", "web" and "instruction" - Boolean Searching
- You may use the boolean operators AND, OR, and NOT in your search.
education AND internet
Returns all articles that contain both the word "education" and the word "internet". Identical to the search: education interneteducation OR internet
Returns all articles that contain "education" and all articles that contain "internet".education NOT internet
Returns all articles that contain "education" but do not contain the word "internet". - Phrase Searching
- Search for phrases by enclosing search terms in quotation marks. Words enclosed in double quotes ("like this") will appear together in all results exactly as you have entered them.
"distance learning"
Returns all articles where the word "distance" appears immediately before the word "learning".

Case Sensitive Searching | |
<CASE> USE | Finds articles in which the word "USE" is in all uppercase letters. This is useful for distinguishing between normal words and acronyms. |
<CASE> Bell | Would find all articles mentioning someone named Bell, while excluding articles that contain the word "bell" in lowercase. |
Proximity Searching | |
math <NEAR> science | math is in close proximity to the word science |
math <SENTENCE> science | math is in the same sentence as the word science |
math <PARAGRAPH> science | math is in the same paragraph as the word science |
